It is useful to know a little about the different communication styles in each country. What may seem polite to you may be uncomfortable or impolite  to the locals of the country you are teaching English – so research is vital.  The first few days in a new country can be a struggle and can take time to settle in.   Once in the classroom, friendships start developing, lessons become more fun and all in all teachers find this a fantastically rewarding experience.

Something of enormous help to teach English overseas is the use of high quality training materials that teachers and students can use together.  Workbooks are highly effective where students can write their answers and express themselves.  Good quality training materials also produce good quality results!  If you can make each lesson fun , such as getting students into groups to play a game, singing and acting makes the learning not only enjoyable, but very rapid too.  Teachers have also found it useful to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it.   This encourages students to respond much better if they understand how they will be benefiting from your unique teaching techniques.
